CV for Jobs in Egypt: Format, Military Service Status and What Employers Expect

Egypt is the largest job market in the Arab world, with strong demand in IT outsourcing, banking, telecoms, FMCG, call centres and engineering. Multinationals and local companies often read CVs in English, but the conventions have local details.

Format and language

• One to two pages, reverse-chronological.
• English for multinationals, banks and IT; Arabic for many government and local roles. Follow the language of the ad.
• Formal tone.

Personal details

A photo is optional. Basic personal details such as nationality are common. Date of birth and marital status are often included but not required.

Military service status

For male Egyptian applicants, employers often ask about military service. If your status is settled, state it in one line: «Military status: completed» or «exempted». This answers one of the first screening questions.

Education

University and grade (for example «Very Good» or «Excellent with honours») are commonly read for graduates. Add the graduation project if relevant.
