What Is a Good CV Score? How CV Scores Work and How to Raise Yours
What a CV or ATS score out of 100 actually measures, what counts as a good score, how the CV Analyz score is calculated from six weighted dimensions, and the fastest ways to raise it.
Many CV checkers give you a number out of 100. That number is only useful if you know what it measures. There is no universal «ATS score»: every tool calculates its own. Here is exactly how ours works.
What the CV Analyz score measures
The overall score is a weighted combination of six dimensions, each rated from 0 to 100:
- Experience: 28 %
- Skills: 18 %
- Achievements: 17 %
- Education: 15 %
- Formatting: 12 %
- ATS readability: 10 %
The overall number is calculated by code from these dimension scores, so it is always consistent with the breakdown you see in the report. Age and photo are deliberately ignored.
What counts as a good score
- 90–100: exceptional, top few percent for that dimension.
- 75–89: strong, only minor gaps.
- 55–74: average, competent but with specific, fixable weaknesses.
- 35–54: below average, several significant gaps.
- 0–34: weak, largely missing or inadequate.
For most applicants, moving from the average band into the strong band is the realistic goal, and it is where interview chances improve most.
The fastest ways to raise it
- Achievements: turn duties into results with numbers.
- Experience: show scope (team size, budget, clients) and progression.
- Skills: match the wording of the job ad where it is true for you.
- Formatting and ATS: a clean structure with real text and standard section names.
What a score cannot do
A high score does not guarantee an interview, and a lower one does not mean you are not qualified. It shows where your CV is weakest so you can fix the parts that matter most.
The number matters less than the lowest dimension behind it. Fix that first.
