Physiotherapist CV: Registration, Specialties and Achievements That Get You Hired
How to write a physiotherapist CV: HCPC or equivalent registration, clinical specialties, a sample profile, outcome-based achievements, techniques and systems to list, ATS keywords, and how to present qualifications when applying abroad.
Physiotherapy recruiters screen on three things: registration, the clinical area you have actually worked in, and whether you can show patient outcomes rather than list treatments. A CV that names the specialty in the first line, puts the registration number next to your name and gives two or three outcome figures per role will be shortlisted ahead of one that describes a caring personality.

- Registration and memberships: HCPC, CSP or national association, indemnity, manual handling and BLS dates.

- Education and CPD: degree, postgraduate certificates, courses with hours (acupuncture, Pilates, vestibular, Mulligan, McKenzie).

Sample profile
HCPC-registered Band 6 physiotherapist with 5 years across acute orthopaedics and community MSK, managing a caseload of 35–40 patients a week. Seeking a senior MSK role with scope for first-contact practitioner training.
Achievements with outcomes
- Reduced mean length of stay for elective knee replacements from 4.1 to 2.7 days by implementing a day-0 mobilisation protocol.
- Improved patient-reported outcome scores (Oxford Knee Score) by an average of 18 points at 12 weeks across 120 patients.
- Cut waiting time for routine MSK appointments from 9 weeks to 4 by introducing group education sessions for low back pain.
- Achieved a 92 % return-to-sport rate within target timeframes for 50 ACL reconstructions under a structured rehab protocol.
- Supervised 6 students with 100 % pass rate and designed the department's placement induction pack.

- Treatment: manual therapy, exercise prescription, electrotherapy, hydrotherapy, chest physiotherapy, vestibular rehab, dry needling or acupuncture where certified.
- Settings and caseloads: acute wards, ICU, outpatients, community, paediatrics, neuro, women's health, sports teams.

ATS keywords
Physiotherapist, HCPC registered, musculoskeletal, MSK, orthopaedics, neurological rehabilitation, respiratory physiotherapy, caseload management, exercise prescription, manual therapy, patient outcomes, discharge planning, multidisciplinary team, first contact practitioner, clinical governance, CPD. Mirror the grade (Band 5/6/7, Senior, Grade II) exactly as the advert writes it.
Applying abroad
State your registration stage first. UK: HCPC number or application status, plus IELTS/OET if required. Australia and New Zealand: AHPRA registration and whether you completed the APC assessment. Canada: provincial college and PCE stage. Gulf: SCFHS, DHA or MOH licence and DataFlow verification; two to three years of post-qualification experience is usually required. Germany: Anerkennung of the degree and German at B2, often with a Kenntnisprüfung. If you are between stages, write the date of the next step rather than leaving it blank.
Treatments are what every physiotherapist lists. Outcomes are what the shortlisted ones list.
